I finished my Master’s degree in Performance Studies at New York University, left WNYC, and landed in the South of France at the Camargo Foundation for nine months. I hoped to experiment with sound and theatre, but minus the conventional formats I had known. It had never occurred to me that the loss of my native tongue could push the theatre and the radio aside, or that as an expat in France I would have to recreate myself. Thus, in midlife, I began at zero. “Beginner’s mind” is indeed a wonderful thing. In parallel with making a living teaching in les grand ecoles, I began with installations, and gradually began experimenting with performance, dance and even improvisation, and music performance. This has become a passion, and will hold me until the end of my days.
